A-League expansion to continue on as planned

Macquarie Sports Radio

Head of the A-League Greg O’Rourke has confirmed expansion will continue on as planned.

Two news team were scheduled to be announced to join the competition in 2019 by the end of October but that timeline came into question after the FFA’s extraordinary general meeting on Tuesday, where chairman Steven Lowy announced his depature.

O’Rourke told Drive with Billy McGee and Mieke Buchan that timeline wouldn’t change despite speculation around the date being pushed back.

“The expansion (date) is going to continue on exactly as planned,” he said.

“Regardless of the (FFA) board’s composition, we still have to finish all of this work.

“It is our intent to continue on this timeline.”
