Andrew Gaze provides injury update on Kevin Lisch
Sydney Kings coach Andrew Gaze says star guard Kevin Lisch will be fit to face Melbourne United this week.
The Kings will look to turnaround a defeat to Melbourne earlier this season when the two teams lock horns on Saturday at Melbourne Arena.
Lisch missed the side’s 13 point victory over the Breakers on Sunday after copping a knock to the jaw from a collision with teammate Dane Pineau the day before.
It didn’t prove an issue for the Kings with young guard Kyle Adnam starring in his place – finishing with 14 points and three assists.
However, Gaze said Lisch will be back for the crucial clash with Melbourne.
“Kevin’s going to be back,” Gaze said.
“He trained a little bit yesterday, he did a lighter session again today, he’s going to have a full blown session tomorrow and we’ve got another light session on Friday.
“He just took a knock to the jaw and he was a bit dazed and that was on Saturday.
“We had a light session, we were doing literally 15 minutes of full competitive stuff, it wasn’t a lot but unfortunately he took a hit to the jaw and he went down and the doctors thought it was best he have a spell.”
At full fitness Lisch is as dangerous as any player in the League – averaging 15.4 points and 3.5 assists per game, while he is shooting at 51% this season.
Sydney are third on the NBL ladder, sitting just one spot behind second-placed United.
Tip-off will be at 2:50PM AEDT.
