Andrew Gaze questions “unusual” NRL contract speculation
Sydney Kings coach Andrew Gaze is mystified at how NRL clubs handle contracts.
The basketball legend told Halftime it was “unusual” speculation would start on numerous NRL star players and coaches despite having as many as two years left on their respective deals.
“When you have a contract, why does (speculation) start a year out?,” he said.
“There’s a problem in the system, how can someone like Ivan Cleary have two years to run but yet you can predict what’s going to go happen in two years.
“Cleary they’re only doing that because they want out now but we’ll go through the motions and negotiate our way through it.”
