Slipping on the boots and gloves once again 43 year old Ante Covic was set to break records as the oldest player in A-League history to take the field when he signed as an injury fill for the Wellington Phoenix in their match up against Sydney FC at Jubilee Stadium.
Unfortunately for Covic he didn’t see game time as fill in goalkeeper Oliver Sail performed extraordinarly well in the 3-1 win the Phoenix had over Sydney. But that didn’t stop Covic having the feeling of excitement training and being part of a professional squad.
He joins Bill Woods and Brigitte Duclos to share how the opportunity came about, the week in preparation, the excitement of game day, and how he finds the bench to be more nerve racking.
