Ante Milicic says Socceroos aren’t playing for the draw

Socceroos assistant coach Ante Milicic has told Julian King the Australians will be going all out for a win against France, rather than parking the bus and hoping to cling on for a draw.

“That’s the Australian mentality. We’ll always go for the win. You see here in the squad – never take a backward step. Make no mistake, we will go for the win.”

Milicic says the pressure is on the big-name France side, rather than the Socceroos.

“We know we’re playing against a team that has top class individuals but we believe in ourselves as a unit.”

The lack of preparation time for coach Bert Van Marwiijk and his team of assistants isn’t seen as an issue.

“He’s got his ideas across fairly quickly in a short space of time.

The Socceroos take on France at 8pm AEST on Saturday night.
