AOC CEO future bids and medals don’t equal success

Yesterday The Australian Sports Commission, which has been re branded as Sport Australia, released its national strategy for the next 12 years – Sport 2030.

The report recognized that Australia had been slipping behind countries since the turn of the century and claimed Australian sporting success would no longer be measured solely by Olympic medals and world titles with the country acknowledging that it could not compete financially with larger countries.

The AOC backed the National Sports Plan and Integrity Review which covers a national policy on match-fixing.

AOC CEO Matt Carroll joined Macquarie Sports Radio’s David Morrow and Matt Thompson to address the plan for Sport 2030.

He also stated “I don’t see too many AFL coaches going predicting the score before the game” when asked about the measurement of medals with medal predictions.
