Aussie tennis star Ash Barty has lauded the Fed Cup, admitting she prefers it over other major Grand Slam events such as the Australian Open or Wimbledon.

Australia face Netherlands in Fed Cup action in Wollongong this weekend, where a win would see the Aussies reach the world group stage for the first time since 2015.

Speaking on Afternoons, Barty said she loved linking up with fellow teammates Daria Gavrilova, Destanee Aiava and veteran Sam Stosur.

“We’re just too bloody busy (during Grand Slams),” Barty said when quizzed on her love of the Fed Cup.

“There’s nothing like it. You’re with your best mates and get to wear the green and gold.

“They really are the best weeks of the year.”
