Blues ‘highly unlikely’ to trade pick 1

Carlton list manager Stephen Silvagni says the Blues are not likely to trade selection one in the draft, but didn’t shut the door on it completely when speaking to Matt Thompson and Brad Hardie this morning.

“It is highly unlikely (that the pick will be traded). Although, in these situations, you never know what will come across your desk.”

As for what is going on with Dylan Shiel, Silvagni wasn’t overly sure what was going to happen with the Giants superstar, but expects a decision in the next few days.

“We are just waiting for a decision. Like the three other clubs that are keen on him, we will wait for his decision. We expect him to make that decision in the next 24-48 hours.”

Silvagni also provided an update on Mitch McGovern, who has chosen Carlton as his preferred trade destination.

“We have had a few discussions with the Crows, we haven’t really spoken about Pick 1 just yet, but we are a fair way down the track with the McGovern deal, we are on talking terms and that is a start.”
