Boof backs the Aussies

The Test series between Australia and India is set to get underway this Thursday at Adelaide Oval

Many pundits don’t give the Aussie side, missing suspended champions Steve Smith and David Warner, a chance to win the first Test, let alone the series.

Former Test player and Australian Coach Darren Lehmann joined the Macquarie Sports Radio breakfast show to discuss the upcoming series, backing the Aussies, “We’ve still got a world class attack. I think we’ll make enough runs at home here in Australia and we know the conditions well. Everyone’s writing us off but I actually think we’ll pay really well.”

Lehmann pointed to Australia’s good home record over the last few years to support his argument, “We’ve lost about 3 Test Matches in the last 7 or 8 years in Australia. For me that’s a pretty good record. I think they’ll continue that.”

There’s a considerable hole left in the Australian team due to the absence of Smith and Warner but Lehmann thinks out bowling attack has enough to get the job done, “We’ll definitely give them some trouble with the ball with our pace attack and our spinner Nathan Lyon and then our batters know the conditions well enough to make enough runs to put pressure on India.”
