Brad Hardie has a BIG update on the playing future of Tom Scully

Brad Hardie says it’ll be a “bonus” if Tom Scully plays senior football for Hawthorn in 2019.

The injury-ravaged 27-year-old moved to the Hawks from the GWS Giants during the trade period but hasn’t played at all in senior level since suffering a serious angle injury in round two last season.

Scully told media on Monday no time frame had been set for his return.

Joining Melbourne Breakfast, the 1985 Brownlow medalist shed some light on the time frame for his return.

“He’s going to give himself every chance (to return), he’s a diligent young man,” he said.

“There’s no doubt the Giants made a big blue and he came back a bit early but it’s my understanding is if he doesn’t play next year, that three-year deal won’t kick in until 2020.”
