Penrith Panthers Deputy Chairman Greg Alexander says that Manly Sea Eagles coach Trent Barrett’s name has not come up in a board meeting over the last six months.

Speaking on Breakfast with Mark Levy and Mark Riddell on Macquarie Sports Radio, the former Australian international stated that contrary to speculation Barrett hasn’t been approached by the Penrith board.

“Trent Barrett has not come up in conversation once. Trent Barrett’s name has not come up in a board meeting over the last six months even though he has been linked with Penrith.”

“My take on this is that the Sea Eagles just want to get rid of Baz (Trent Barrett) and they’ve been trying to link him with any club they could.”

Brandy also said that he specifically asked Panthers General Manager of Football Gus Gould a few weeks ago whether they’re chasing Barrett and he replied, “Absolutely not. I haven’t spoken to him”.
