Clarkson will have to ‘earn his right’ to a contract extension, says Kennett
Hawthorn is not entertaining a contract extension for Alastair Clarkson just yet.
Clarkson is contracted to the Hawks until the end of next season, and president Jeff Kennett said the club is in no rush to extend that deal.
Kennett said Clarkson, a four-time premiership coach, will have to “earn his right” to an extension.
“We came to an agreement earlier on that he and the board will discuss it at the end of the year,” Kennett said on Monday.
“Until then we’re not going to worry.”
