‘Dean wants to play for seven or eight more years, he will get to do that at St Kilda’ – Ben Niall
Leading player agent, Ben Niall says that his client Dean Kent is leaving Melbourne to seek more opportunities at the Saints after only playing 63 games in five seasons at Melbourne. Niall says that St Kilda gave a clear indication where they want Dean to play.
“St Kilda came to us, and Simon Lethlean made it clear that St Kilda have a clear idea of where they want to play Dean and how they wanted to use him. Dean was happy with that. It was nice to be wanted.” Niall told Macquarie Sports Radio Melbourne Breakfast.
Kent, taken with pick 48 in the 2012 draft has been riddled by hamstring and shoulder issues through his career and is keen for a fresh start at the struggling Saints.
“We understand Dean is leaving a team like Melbourne who are going to be very successful, and going to St Kilda who are trying to rebuild a bit is a risk, but Dean knows he will get the opportunity to play for seven to eight more years.”
Niall: “The Saints want him up the field. He will likely play wing and around the center square. He has also been given a longer offer and a bit more money too.”
