Debate rages over Scott Bolton’s selection, despite police charges

Scott Bolton has been selected to play for the North Queensland Cowboys this week, despite being charged with indecent assault following an alleged incident involving a woman at the weekend.

But should he be allowed to play? Debate raged on the Afternoons program on Wednesday.

“I really don’t think he (Bolton) should be out there,” Shane McInnes said.

McInnes highlighted the AFL’s handling of the recent Sam Powell-Pepper incident – where police weren’t even involved.

The Port Adelaide player sat out three games while his behaviour at a nightclub was investigated by the league.

“And he wasn’t charged,” McInnes pointed out.

However, Mieke Buchan says the decision would not have been made lightly.

“If the people in power know enough and are comfortable with it, then I’m comfortable with it,” she said.
