Former Australian cricket coach John Buchanan has endorsed Justin Langer as the next coach of the national team.
Cricket Australia announced on Tuesday two further reviews following the ball tampering scandal in South Africa, with a new charter of behaviour set to be ratified in the coming months by the cricketing head body as well as the appointment of Australia’s next coach following Darren Lehmann’s resignation.
Buchanan, who coached Australia between 1997 and 2007, told Afternoons Australian cricket “needed one voice” moving forward.
“He’s a man of strong principle and high values,” Buchanan said of Langer.
“He’s passionate about the baggy green and privilege of playing for Australia. He’s also a really experienced now as a coach and that’s really important as we move into a new era.”
