Former England test Cricketer John Emburey slams Australian cricket culture “It all stems from sledging”

Former England Test cricketer John Emburey believes most of the Australian cricket team’s problems stem from sledging.

Emburey told Macquarie Sports Radio, “If there’s any confrontation between two international sides, you bet your bottom dollar the common denominator is Australia are one of those two sides and it all stems from the sledging.”

Hitting back at coach Justin Langer’s comments regarding sledging being part of the game, Emburey said, “It’s all part of the game in Australia, it’s not all part of the game around the world.”

“If Australia didn’t sledge, you’d see sledging go out of the window straight away.”

On the Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft bans Emburey said, “I wouldn’t have given them a year ban, I would have just said look you’re not going to be playing for Australia for six tests matches, as simple as that, which takes them up to they Sydney test match and then they would be available for the Sri Lanka series at the end of the summer.”
