Roosters legend surprised by the club’s success

Experienced finals campaigner Anthony Minichiello, former Roosters & premiership winning fullback, says his old side have been one of the biggest surprises of the year.

The Sydney Roosters finished on top in one of the closest top eight’s ever.

The top four teams finished on 34 points, and teams five-eight only one win behind on 32.

“It was unbelievable,” Minichiello told James Willis on Halftime.

“Who would’ve thought we would end up on top. The boys have worked hard on their combinations and deserved that first after 25 rounds.”

Minichiello says the inclusion of James Tedesco at fullback and Cooper Cronk at half this season has really come to light the second half of the year.

“There was a lot of questions early.

“Since after the State of Origin series I think Tedesco has come alive with his combination with Cooper in the middle.”

The Sydney Roosters take on the Cronulla Sharks in a qualifying final on Saturday.
