Giants hungry after consecutive prelim final exits

The GWS Giants are competing in their third final series in a row when they take on the Sydney Swans in an elimination final this Saturday.

After losing in two consecutive preliminary finals against the Western Bulldogs and Richmond, both eventual premiers, co-captain Callan Ward says this year is all about their “hunger.”

“The first prelim we were probably really excited being there, and didn’t think about it too much,” Ward told James Willis on Halftime.

“The second one we expected to be there and that was our job to win the prelim and go as far as we can.

“The third one now is about hunger and motivation.”

Sydney’s Lance Franklin returns from a groin injury to take on old foe Phil Davis.

Ward says he is hard to stop.

“He is probably the best footballer to watch.”
