‘He has been pretty important to the club both on and off the field’ – Manager pleads Bernie’s case

The manager of injured Melbourne midfielder Bernie Vince has said that his client wants to continue his AFL career at Melbourne, despite suffering a season ending shoulder injury. Former Crow Michael Doughty, now manages Taylor Walker and Vince believes his client still has plenty to offer at AFL level.

“He is 33, so everyone will jump to the conclusion he is going to retire. He has been a pretty important player to Melbourne not only on field but off field. I think they know how important a player he is.”

When asked if he thought there was still room on the Melbourne list for a 33 year old Vince;

Doughty was very clear, “Absolutely. We also know though that the list is getting a lot better, but they also aren’t playing to their full potential just yet, but they aren’t far away and Bernie will work through it all soon.”
