‘He won’t play for 3-6 months’ – Tony Shaw gives injury update on Giants superstar
Tony Shaw has given the latest on the knee injury that struck down his nephew Heath over the weekend saying the Premiership defender won’t return this season but the diagnosis wasn’t as bad as first feared.
“Heath was hoping he would only be out for 6 weeks. That was optimistic from him. He will miss 3-6 months. It isn’t his ACL which is really good but he has torn his medial ligament.” Shaw told Macquarie Sports Radio Melbourne Breakfast.
There was an initial fear for Shaw that he had torn his ACL in Saturday nights clash against Adelaide at Spotless stadium, but his uncle confirmed today that it wasn’t quite as serious.
The Giants consolidated a spot in the top 4 with a win over Adelaide on Saturday night with Shaw hoping that if his team gets to the Grand Final he would be able to return. Tony says that will not be the case.
“Heath was hoping to be back if the Giants go deep into September. He is no chance. He will play on next year though. ”
