Hodge finds himself in unfamiliar (and sticky) territory!

MACQUARIE SPORTS RADIO MORNINGS

It’s been a while since Luke Hodge was inside the circle after a win.

The inside of the circle (and customary Gatorade shower) is generally reserved for players after their first win for a club, not a place you’d expect to find a 313-game veteran.

But Hodge, 34 next month, found himself inside the circle after finally scoring his first win at Brisbane.

The Lions broke their 2018 duck on Sunday, beating Hawthorn by 56 points.

Lion star Mitch Robinson said Hodge would hardly remember what it felt like to be back on the inside.

“It would have been 15 years between his Gatorade showers!” Robinson told Macquarie Sports Radio.

“I think we had six blokes in (the circle). We made sure they got very sticky!”

Robinson said you need “a couple of showers” to clean the sports drink off.

“You can’t get it off for three or four hours.”

Hodge’s first win in the AFL came way back in Round 5, 2002.
