“I had a tear in my eye” : Aussie success makes Brooke Hanson emotional

Australia’s extraordinary efforts in the pool – 28 gold medals, if you don’t mind – is a clear sign that our swimming team has shaken off their Rio hoodoo with a blistering return to form.

The record haul of 78 medals eclipses the 57 medals hung around the necks of our swimmers at Glasgow in 2014.

Former Olympic and Commonwealth Games swimming star Brooke Hanson reveals to Mieke, Shane and Sam that the success of the Aussie team made her emotional.

“To know we saw the world’s best time, the fastest time ever in the 4 x 100 freestyle relay, I had a tear in my eye.”

And after bagging a record haul of medals, there’s only one place where our gilded swimmers choose to celebrate – Nineteen at The Star.

“It has an infinity pool which overlooks the whole Gold Coast skyline, they were definitely in a special place where they could celebrate and let their hair down,”
