“I wouldn’t be prepared to pay him $700,000” – Riddell on Hayne

Two time Dally M Medalist Jarryd Hayne is still without an NRL club for the 2019 season and beyond

With Parramatta seemingly unable to resign Hayne, the fullback has been linked with moves to both the Bulldogs and the Dragons.

Former Eels and Dragons player and member of the Macquarie Sports Radio breakfast show Mark Riddell spoke about his concern around the Dragons signing his former teammate, “I do believe at the right price Jarryd Hayne could add a lot of value to the Dragons but I wouldn’t be prepared to pay him the $700,000 that they’re offering him.”

Riddell continued, “I think if they could get him for half a million dollars and they got him for one or two seasons that you could stick him on the wing, you could get him fit, you could let him float in field and do what he did for the Parramatta Eels at the back end of this year and also a bit of support there for Matt Dufty in the fullback role.”

“I’m glad it’s not going to cost Dufty  his position because I think Dufty really adds a lot to this Dragons side. He’s only 22 years of age. He’s got a lot of developing to do in that fullback role. But I think if they can get Jarryd Hayne at the right price he’d be a really good fit for the Dragons”
