‘It was a shoulder charge, no doubt about it’ Toovey on Slater tackle
Former Manly player, coach and NRL Legend Geoff Toovey has told Halftime with James Willis that the Billy Slater tackle was a shoulder charge.
‘It was shoulder charge, no doubt about it’
‘Leading with the shoulder, put his shoulder across his body, and made contact with the opposition player’
Toovey was also quick to praise Rooster’s half Cooper Cronk’s effort, visibly playing injured for more than half a game in the other Prelim Final.
‘He was the difference, not that he did anything during the game, the fact that he was out there giving the other blokes confidence’
However Toovey did concede that he would not play Cooper this weekend.
‘You can’t risk him, you can’t play that lame…you can’t risk him, I don’t think he’ll play’
Toovey has tipped a close one but with Billy back in the side he can’t go past the Melbourne Storm.
‘It will be under 10 points…it will go down to the wire 10-8 or something along those lines.’
