‘It wasn’t the most enjoyable place to work in the last 5-6 weeks’ – Says outgoing Saints assistant

Former development coach at St Kilda Lindsay Gilbee has given an insight into the mood around the club in the last few weeks of the season, saying “it wasn’t the most enjoyable place to work in the last 5-6 weeks.”

Gilbee, who departs the club after not being offered another contract by the Saints, was clear that “It is a great club”, but maintained the last six weeks of the season were really tough.

“There was a lot of uncertainty, individually I mean and in the footy department, and obviously that area hasn’t been great this year.”

Gilbee went on to say he was happy they told him that his contract would not be renewed four weeks before then end of the season.

“I actually liked being told four weeks out that my contract wasn’t going to be renewed because it just gives you a bit of time to plan. It certainly hasn’t been the best place to work over the last 5-6 weeks, and results would suggest that as well.”
