“It’s not Froome’s fault”
SBS presenter Mike Tomalaris spoke with Julian King ahead of Stage 5 of the Tour de France, and went into bat for under-fire cyclist Chris Froome.
While spectators at ‘Le Tour’ leave syringes on the road as a protest against the Brit’s inclusion, Tomalaris said “It’s not Froome’s fault he’s riding in the race. The organisers have allowed him to.”
Froome is under a cloud after testing positive to a banned substance found in his asthma medication, but Tomalaris thinks the hatred from the crowd is to do with something else altogether.
“The French don’t like English people. It’s a case of tall poppy syndrome.”
