Labor’s plan to tackle ticket scalpers
Federal Opposition Leader, Bill Shorten joined Matt and Jimmy this morning to talk about Labor’s plan to tackle ticket scalping.
Labor will limit ticket scalper’s ability to set their own price by capping resale price of tickets at 110% of the original sale cost.
Mr Shorten highlights that fact that online scammer are able to use software that buys the tickets at far faster rate than humans can and estimates that around 30% of transactions are completed by computerised ‘bots’
Mr Shorten said ‘the idea that we want to clamp down on scalpers or that we want to reform online gambling is not a Liberal view or a Labor view, it’s common sense’
