Mariners should be chasing Cahill, not Bolt

Chief Football writer for The Australian, and Central Coast local Ray Gatt, spoke to Julian King about the prospect of Usain Bolt playing for the Mariners in the A-League, and he says ‘don’t hold your breath’.

“I don’t think he’ll be good enough to play at A-League standard in all honesty.”

Instead, Gatt has an idea on who the Mariners should be chasing.

“I’d love to see Tim Cahill go to the Mariners for a year or two. I think he’d be a far better option for the Mariners than Usain Bolt.

Tim Cahill’s decision to retire from international football didn’t come as a surprise to Gatt, who rates him right at the top on the all-time list of Aussie players.

“I would possibly rate him as the best ever Socceroo along with Harry Kewell, Mark Viduka and Mark Schwarzer.”
