Radio host and Adelaide sporting great Mark Bickley is disappointed at India’s refusal to play day-night cricket.

Cricket Australia announced on Tuesday morning that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) weren’t willing to participate in the Adelaide Oval day-night Test, which has taken place since 2015 in front of sold-out crowds and increased TV audiences.

Bickley told Afternoons he suspected there were numerous reasons behind India’s reluctance to commit to the day-night format.

“There’s cynics among us that will say that India don’t want to face Starc and Hazlewood with the pink ball,” he said.

“One of the best bits about the day-night test is it brings the balance between bat and ball back towards the bowler which is a really good thing.

“The way the deal is set up, you can come in during the final sessions for $20 and it makes it so much more accessible for people who work during the day.

“With the pure day match, it makes it a lot more difficult for people to come along and watch.”
