Matt Renshaw wants to be more than just a fill-in

Matt Renshaw looks destined to win a spot at the top of Australia’s Test batting line-up, and he’s told Julian King that he’s keen on making big runs while the likes of David Warner, Cam Bancroft and Steve Smith are out suspended.

“Missing the three guys is going to be a massive loss but it’s about the guys that are about to stand up and take their runs. A few people are going to have to take the reins there.”

Renshaw is focused on the Australian’s Test series against Pakistan in the UAE, and even has ambitions to play the shorter formats of the game.

“Being pigeon-holed as that ‘Turtle thing’ and not really getting much of a look in with white ball cricket, you’ve just got to be really adaptable and have that red ball plan and try to bat as long as you can.”
