Daniel Menzel officially joins the Swans
Daniel Menzel is officially a Swan after signing a one-year deal on Wednesday afternoon.
He joins Sydney from Geelong as a delisted free agent.
Earlier, CEO of the Swans Andrew Ireland indicated to Melbourne Breakfast it was a “very strong chance” Sydney would throw him a lifeline to continue his AFL career.
Menzel was surprisingly cut by the Cats during the AFL trade period and has been holidaying overseas in America since.
Speaking on Wednesday morning, the outgoing Swans CEO confirmed it was more likely than unlikely Daniel Menzel’s career would continue in the red and white.
“I think there’s a very strong chance that will happen. Dan came back from the States and did a medical last week. We continue to talk to his management,” he said.
“We think there’s at least a chance that, that might happen.”
After experiencing four knee reconstructions Menzel has 100 goals from his last 50 games of AFL football, throughout this year he missed games of football due to complications to injections in his groin.
