Mother of Nathan Buckley reveals her son’s change this season

Karen Buckley says son and Collingwood coach Nathan “is more pragmatic” as part of a wider character change this year.

After not playing finals since 2013, the Pies are gearing up for their first Grand Final appearance since 2011 against West Coast on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking on Mornings with David Morrow and Tiffany Cherry, Buckley said she wasn’t “hurt” by previous criticism of her son, rather slamming the criticism as unfair to her son.

“I personally find it very stressful some of the stuff that was going on,” she said.

“It was disrespectful to Nathan and the effort he expends on things that he values.”

She said her some has a “very different outlook” on life this year compared to previous ones.

“He’s worked a lot on his approach and attitude,” she said.

“He doesn’t fret the things he can’t changes but if there something he can’t influence, he doesn’t waste any time on it.”
