North going after the wrong players, says Jarrad Waite

Jarrad Waite believes his former club North Melbourne is going after the wrong players.

West Coast Eagles star Andrew Gaff turned his back on the Roos’ big-money offer and it follows similar rejections from Dustin Martin and Josh Kelly in previous years.

Speaking on Drive with Mark Allen and David Schwarz, Waite said North should turn their attention away from players who are in the premiership window for their respective clubs and look elsewhere.

“(Players who are in the premiership window) are going to be very hard to drag away from a club,” he said.

“If you look at a Tom Lynch, their team isn’t going great and he’s a captain of the club but Richmond have managed to lure him away.

“They need to go after a player who is being low-balled (with their contract) and or do they go with a few mid-range draft picks in the first round and go from there.”
