One day less between finals games doesn’t matter: Waite

Former North Melbourne and Carlton forward Jarrad Waite says there “isn’t a difference” between a six and seven-day break between finals matches.

Collingwood president Eddie McGuire has been left fuming after the Pies face the prospect of coming up against Richmond on the back of a six-day break if they beat GWS on Saturday night.

But Waite told Halftime players shouldn’t take the numbers of days between matches into account, especially during finals.

“The president is entitled to be upset but I don’t think the players would,” he said.

“Whatever draw you’re given, you just deal with it.

“If you start worrying about little things like that, it has a negative effect, especially when you’re playing finals.

“Richmond have had a good run with it but they deserve it, they’re number one. If Collingwood would have finished top, they would have got (an advantage) as well.”
