‘Own the decision’ | David Schwarz says Essendon only has itself to blame

David Schwarz says Essendon only has itself to blame for the speculation surrounding Mark Neeld’s shock departure.

The former Melbourne coach left the club this week, with the club stating it was a “mutual” decision.

That claim has been questioned.

Bomber coach John Worsfold engaged in a fiery press conference on Wednesday, where he fielded several questions about Neeld’s departure.

“There’s one big problem – they have lied about the Mark Neeld sacking,” Schwarz said on Macquarie Sports Radio.

“That’s been the biggest issue.

“There’s three different stories from three different employees – at least get your story right.

“Don’t tell fibs.

“With a decision as big as this, no footy club can expect to cover it going forward when there are three different stories happening behind the scenes.

“It clearly wasn’t working between Mark Neeld and the Essendon Football Club – own the decision.”
