From Uber Driver to Grand Final Midfielder

Collingwood midfielder Josh Thomas never lost belief in the wake of his drug ban.

Thomas and former teammate Lachie Keefe accepted two-year bans for taking banned drug clenbuterol, with both players returning in 2017.

The 26-year-old has starred for the Pies this year, playing every game and he told Halftime with James Willis the group “never lost belief” as coach Nathan Buckley came under severe scrutiny in 2017.

“I always believed in my ability, which is really important as a player,” he said ahead of playing his first Grand Final on Saturday.

“Having a coach believe in you and back you and going through having two years off, he contacted me sporadically over the two years.

“As soon as I got back, I knew I had a lot of work to do but he was able to tell me that if I got my best footy together, there was a place for me in the best 22.

“(Buckley) has really relaxed this year and the place is really enjoyable to be around.”
