Robbie Farah shocked at Tigers re-signing

West Tigers star Robbie Farah admits he was content with the idea of retiring.

After the veteran hooker returned to the Tigers halfway through the season, Farah was happy with the idea of being back at his old club.

Then he got the shock call.

“I did have my mind made up. I was content, if it’s going to end this year I was totally fine with that,” Farah told Afternoons.

“As a shock to me the Tigers were keen to keep me on for another year. That threw another spanner in the works.”

Farah’s re-signing followed Benji Marshall’s commitment.

But he admits he didn’t want to sign until he knew what coach Ivan Cleary was doing.

Cleary’s future has been under constant speculation throughout the season, with him linked to the vacant Panthers job.

“I rang him up, I said it is a big decision for me, I wanted to know what he was doing.

“He said yeah I will be here.

“He was instrumental in wanting to keep me at the club next year. I like to make a decision knowing who the coach is going to be.”
