Rodney Eade surprised at nature of Lynch exit

Former Gold Coast Suns coach Rodney Eade says he’s “surprised” at the way Tom Lynch’s exit was handled.

The 25-year-old start forward informed the playing group on Thursday of his intention to leave the club and head back to Victoria at season’s end.

The Suns responded by stripping him of the captaincy and withdrawing him from the football program.

“They’ve done what they’ve done and moved on,” Eade told Afternoons.

“I can understand why they removed him as captain but it’s all about delivery.

“One past player I’ve spoken to said it was just so blunt, in terms of the way the news was delivered to the playing group.

“What I can gather based on what this past player has told me, younger players were invited to voice their opinion an having spent eight years there and knowing Tom (Lynch as a person), he’s given everything to the place.”
