Room for big talent in St Kilda salary cap

St Kilda CEO Matt Finnis says there is room in the salary cap for a top-end talent.

Following a disappointing first half to the season, Finnis says “you’ve got to be in the conversation” when it comes to attracting free agents at the end of the year.

“We’ve got to develop stars from our own ranks if we want to be successful.

“But we would love to be able to supplement our team with some experience and top end talent,” he told Afternoons.

St Kilda haven’t won since round one this season, and Finnis concedes they have had to reassess as a club.

“At the start of the year you go in with the ambition of playing finals, right now it is look a fair way off.

“It hasn’t been going in the right direction…the reality is we have already done a bit of soul-searching”.

St Kilda play Sydney this Saturday night for their third annual pride match.
