Shane McInnes has a ‘reality check’ for those who think fan violence is on the rise

Fan behaviour is in the spotlight once again.

Ugly footage surfaced after a brawl broke out at the St Kilda v Collingwood match on Saturday.

But Macquarie Sports Radio host Shane McInnes says it’s not the violence that’s on the rise.

It’s the footage.

“Incidents like these have been breaking out for years,” Shane said on Tuesday.

“(They) only seem more prevalent now because there’s vision of them, because everyone has a video camera in their back pocket.

“Anyone who thinks this behaviour is new – get a reality check.”

Shane said anyone involved in a brawl should receive a 12-month ban.

“If you can’t consume alcohol without becoming violent, see you later. You’re not welcome.”
