“She makes Sam’s achievements look pretty ordinary” – Simon Hill

When Sam Kerr’s name wasn’t read out as the inaugural winner of the women’s Ballon d’Or this week the Australian public was fuming

Foxsports Football commentator Simon Hill joined the Macquarie Sports Radio breakfast show this morning where he weighed into the debate, “Unfortunately this is a vote that goes to an awful lot of people. We suffer a little bit by being in a part of the world where we tend to get ignored unless we’re winning World Cups.”

“Sam also hasn’t done it (dominated) at a major tournament yet. She’s got a big chance next year in France”, he continued.

Hill admitted that he ultimately agreed with the selection of the eventual winner Ada Hegerberg, “But the actual winner Ada Hegerberg, If you look at her record of goal scoring, she makes Sam’s achievements look pretty ordinary. And I don’t mean any disrespect to Sam. She has scored a bucket load for club and Country. So I have no qualms with Hegerberg winning”
