Smith was “hung out to dry” says author Geoff Lemon

Author Geoff Lemon has described former Australian cricket captain Steve Smith as “ill-equipped to be captain of a national sporting team”.

Speaking to Julian King about his new book Steve Smith’s Men: Behind Australian Cricket’s Fall Lemon said Smith’s with lack of life experience, and characteristics made him ill-equipped to captain Australia.

Smith and David Warner Warner are currently serving bans for their role in the ball tampering scandal.

Lemon also described Warner as “a complicated character”.

“A lot of [his behaviour] it had the support and the active encouragement of people at Cricket Australia that were ranking a lot higher than he was”.
