‘Talk about a duty of care’: Former Test cricketer slams saga fallout

Former Australian Test cricketer Mike Whitney has slammed the “lies and deceitful” nature of the ball-tampering saga.

Whitney, who played 12 tests for Australia, told Afternoons Steve Smith, Cameron Bancroft and David Warner “copped it” compared to similar ball-tampering incidents in the past.

“For Cricket Australia to push Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft out into a press conference 12 minutes after they came off the ground that day was just bizarre,” he said.

“If you remember that interview, Cameron Bancroft lied. Talk about a duty of care.

“The Australian public reacted to the lies and deceitfulness of it all.”
