Tom McDonald never considered leaving Melbourne

Melbourne Football Club forward Tom McDonald says he never considered looking at other clubs.

Fresh off signing a four-year contract extension, McDonald has told Melbourne Afternoons with  Mieke Buchan, Shane McInnes and Sam Stove contract negotiations were always positive.

“It’s the managers job to hear things from other clubs.

“If it got to the point where negotiations broke down with Melbourne then maybe that was the time to re-evaluate, but it never got to that point,” he said.

After six wins in a row and becoming the highest scoring team of 2018, Melbourne is now considered a strong premiership contender.

McDonald started at Melbourne in 2010 in the midst of their struggles, and says it is finally good to come out the other end.

“When we beat Carlton a few weeks ago, when we won by 100 points, I thought back to all those times we lost 15 times by over 100 points in my career.”

Having played six games this season, McDonald has kicked 19 goals and cemented himself as a permanent forward.
