Tony Shaw slams Saints football manager over ‘next level’ comments

MACQUARIE SPORTS RADIO DRIVE

Tony Shaw and David Schwarz have slammed St Kilda’s football manager Simon Lethlean.

Lethlean had told The Age the Saints were disappointed with the output from their “next level of players”, referring to players who had played 50 to 100 games.

“Our leaders are doing their bit. We need more from some others,” Lethlean said.

Schwarz told Macquarie Sports Radio it’s not an appropriate comment from a football administrator.

“Simon Lethlean needs a kick in the pants for this one,” he said.

“When you aren’t playing good football, the last thing you want to do is isolate groups,”

“It’s one in, all in.”

Earlier, Tony Shaw said you wouldn’t hear comments like that from someone like Alastair Clarkson.

“You can’t split (the playing group),” Shaw said on Macquarie Sports Radio Breakfast.

“Everybody’s in this together.”
