Tuqiri thinks Cheika’s time is up

Pressure continues to mount on Rugby Australia to make a decision on the future of the Australian coaching position ahead of the 2019 World Cup

Persistent rumours have linked former South African World Cup winning coach Jake White to the top job, taking over from current coach Michael Cheika ahead of the 2019 tournament.

Speaking on the Macquarie Sports Radio breakfast show with Mark Levy and Mark Riddell, Duel International Lote Tuqiri weighed in on the rumours linking White to the coaching role, “He doesn’t have a lot of time to turn things around but at the same time he’s probably got a young squad that I think are probably a bit tired of the same old messages.”

Tuqiri, one of the greatest wingers of his generation, believes Cheika’s time may be up, “I don’t know how much more Cheika can get out of these blokes. They’re a squad that hasn’t really changed in the last 2 years or so and I just don’t know how much more they can get out of the same coach.”
