Victory CEO responds to the Grand Final’s VAR controversy
Melbourne Victory’s CEO has called for more money to be pumped into VAR technology.
The A-League Grand Final was riddled with controversy when Victory took the lead in the ninth minute.
Replays showed several Victory players to be offside in the build-up, but the video assistant referee was unable to review the play due to a technical failure.
It was the game’s only goal.
Victory CEO Trent Jacobs told Macquarie Sports Radio Breakfast it is worth persisting with the VAR.
“There needs to be more money invested in it,” Jacobs said.
“We need a whole range of better camera angles.
“One thing we won’t let it do is affect the way we remember the year… what our boys were able to achieve is something very, very significant.”
