Warner: “The AFL won’t neglect Tasmania too much longer”
Herald Sun journalist Mick Warner has revealed the AFL are looking to introduce an VFL team in Tasmania by 2021.
Speaking on Melbourne Breakfast, the Herald Sun news breaker said the league would no longer be neglected the Australian football heartland.
“The AFL won’t neglect Tassie for too much longer,” Warner said.
“There will be an AFL team there at some point.”
Mick said he was pleased league chiefs were taking action.
“I love what’s happening down there because it’s the State dragging the AFL into action”.
Co-host Tony Leonard said notions of a VFL or AFL team in Tasmania were financially unviable, due to a lack of investment from local businesses.
Mick Warner: “It looks like Tasmania will get a VFL team in two years time.”
