WATCH – Des Hasler: A master of salary cap management?

Newly-appointed Manly coach Des Hasler says there is nothing he has to answer for when it comes to accusations he left Canterbury in a mess with their salary cap mismanagement.

“It’s naïve to suggest that one salary cap management plan is another’s misery,” Hasler said.

Manly chairman and owner Scott Penn revealed Hasler won’t have complete control over the cap during his second stint at Brookvale.

A committee will be appointed and will oversee all retention and recruitment decisions, but the veteran coach will still have a major input.

“Des has always been one of the masters of cap management,” Penn said.

“He had 150 different scenarios. That something he’s always been strong at.

“We have no concerns.”
