WATCH: South American cup final postponed after attack on visiting team bus
The Copa Libertadores Final has been delayed after a team bus was attacked.
The match – the second leg between local rivals Boca Juniors and River Plate – was pushed back 24 hours after local fans attacked the Boca team bus.
A number of Boca players, including their captain, were injured in the attack.
Former Socceroo Ante Covic told Macquarie Sports Radio it can be hard for Australians to comprehend the passion of South American fans.
“Sometimes that passion goes beyond commonsense,” Covic said.
“It was just crazy.
“If River went on to win the game, it would be a bit of a shallow victory.”
